Refund Policy

Last updated: 5 October, 2026

This Refund Policy explains when we can and cannot refund a payment for a Hunch subscription or in-app purchase. It forms part of our Terms of Use (Clause 9.8). If anything here conflicts with the Terms of Use, the Terms of Use apply.

First, check how you paid

Your refund route depends on where you bought your subscription. Your order confirmation email tells you which applies.

Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple and Google handle billing and refunds for purchases made through their stores under their own policies. Hunch cannot issue, approve or deny these refunds.

Direct from Hunch. If you paid on our website or in the app through our payment partner, the rest of this page applies. We call these Direct Purchases.

Our general rule

Direct Purchases are final and non-refundable, except in the cases set out below and where the law where you live requires a refund. We do not give refunds or credits for unused or partly used subscription periods.

When we do not refund

We cannot refund a Direct Purchase because:

Hunch does not guarantee matches, replies, dates or any other outcome. Not getting the result you hoped for is not a ground for a refund.

When we do refund

We will refund a Direct Purchase if:

We may also correct a billing error on our own initiative, even after a payment has gone through.

How to ask for a refund

Email customersupport@hunchapp.com within 48 hours of the charge. Please include:

This 48-hour window does not affect your rights under “Your rights in certain US states” below, which apply for the full period the law allows.

We may ask for more information to check your request. We will reply within 3–5 business days. If we approve a refund, our payment partner sends it back to the card or method you paid with, usually within 5–7 business days. Your bank may take a little longer to show it.

If a refund is issued, your paid features end straight away and the related subscription is cancelled.

Cancelling versus refunding

These are two different things.

Cancelling stops your subscription renewing. Your paid features carry on until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again. There is no refund for the remainder of the period. Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date, through the App Store, Google Play, or “Manage Subscription” in the app, depending on how you paid.

A refund returns money you have already paid, in the situations listed above or under the state rights below.

Please talk to us before contacting your bank

If a charge looks wrong, email us first and we will sort it out. If you raise a chargeback with your bank without contacting us, or for one of the reasons under “When we do not refund”, we may suspend or close your account, and we may share this policy and the record of your acceptance of it with our payment partner or your card network as part of the dispute.

Your rights in certain US states

These rights apply whatever else this policy says, and are in addition to the refunds described above. Nothing here limits any refund right you have under the law where you live.

If you live in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island or Wisconsin:

You, the buyer, may cancel this agreement, without any penalty or obligation, at any time prior to midnight of the third business day following the date you subscribed, excluding Sundays and holidays.

To use this right, email customersupport@hunchapp.com with a signed and dated statement that you are cancelling, your account email or phone number, and your order number. We will refund everything you paid within 10 days of receiving your notice (10 business days if you live in New York), and your paid features will end. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, send your cancellation to that store.

Death, disability or moving. If you die before your subscription period ends, your estate can claim a refund of the part of the fee covering the period after your death. If you become disabled so that you cannot use Hunch, you can claim a refund of the part covering the period after your disability began, on written notice to us. If you move permanently somewhere Hunch is not available, contact us and we will offer alternative services or a pro-rata refund.

If you live in New York, you also have these rights:

  1. You can put your subscription on hold for up to one year by writing to customersupport@hunchapp.com.
  2. Referrals. On Hunch, a social referral means each profile presented to you in a daily drop. We do not guarantee any number of profiles, matches or dates. If you receive no profiles for two or more months in a row during a paid subscription, you can cancel and get a refund of what you paid for that subscription, less a cancellation fee of whichever is greater: 15% of the price, or the share of the price covering the months in which you did receive profiles. Email customersupport@hunchapp.com to ask.
  3. We will not sell, assign or transfer your personal information to anyone without your written consent, and we delete it when your contract ends, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  4. The New York Dating Service Consumer Bill of Rights is available here.

If you live in California, you may also report complaints to the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services, California Department of Consumer Affairs, 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or call (800) 952-5210.
